Let’s be honest—When it comes to skincare, there’s no shortage of confusion. And honestly, I get it. With over 16 years in the industry, I’ve seen firsthand just how overwhelming the options can be. But here’s what I know for sure: skincare isn’t just a daily task. It’s a lifestyle.
In today’s fast paced world, some of us don’t have time to regularly visit a provider, which is exactly why I created RFA Skincare. It’s expert-backed skincare made to meet you where you are, right at the comfort of your own home. When you choose RFA, you’re not just investing in a product… You’re investing in yourself and your self-love journey!
One of the questions I get all the time is: How much product should I actually be using? A drop? A dollop? And does the order you apply your products actually matter?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The right amount and the right order make all the difference and can determine whether your products are really working the way they should.
Less is often more
With medical-grade skincare, you don’t need a lot to see results. These formulas are potent and clinically backed, which means overusing can actually be wasteful. Not only does medical-grade have high concentrations of actives, they also have advanced delivery systems for optimal penetration and results. I wrote a blog all about medical grade skincare and why medical grade skincare is the best investment for your skin.
But here’s the thing: it’s not just about how much product you use that limits how effective your results will be, it’s also about the order in which you apply them. The right routine should work like a layered system, allowing each product to properly penetrate and do its job as intended. If the order is off, even the best products can fall flat.
So let’s clear it up once and for all! Here’s exactly how much of each product you should be using and why order matters just as much as amount.

Cleanser: 1-2 pumps
Cleansing removes dirt, oil, SPF, and makeup so the rest of your products can actually penetrate. If your skin isn’t clean, your serums and moisturizers won’t be nearly as effective.
⸻
Serums: 2-3 drops
These are your hydrating serums should always go on before moisturizer because moisturizers act like a seal. Apply a 2-3 drops evenly to your face and neck. Gently pat it in to encourage absorption.
⸻
Moisturizer: 1-2 pumps
Once your serums have absorbed, it’s time to seal it all in. Apply 1-2 pumps to lock in hydration and keep the skin healthy to prevent water loss.
⸻
Eye Cream: Half a pump (for both eyes!)
The under-eye area is delicate and a little goes a long way. Tap it in gently with your ring finger.
⸻
SPF: 1-2 pumps
Your final step every morning, no matter what. Apply generously to the face, neck, and chest. This is your skin’s daily shield. No exceptions!
⸻
General rule of thumb: Go from thinnest to thickest, and from clear to cloudy.
None of this matters without consistency

Skincare isn’t a one-time thing—it’s a habit, just like working out. You wouldn’t expect toned arms after one trip to the gym, right? The same goes for your skin. The real results come from showing up daily, applying your products in the right order and amounts, and giving your skin time to respond and transform.
So keep going! Stick with your routine and trust the process. And remember that progress doesn’t happen overnight.
