Hey guys!…as you know, I recently went through a big move, and one of the things I chose to invest in was hiring Sinti, a professional organizer, to come in and help me organize some of my spaces, including my closet.
As a working mom of three kids who are very involved in a lot of activities, while also running multiple businesses, one thing I know for sure is that I have to delegate certain things out in order to protect my sanity and truly be present with my kids.
This was an investment I’m so grateful I made. Sinti truly has a gift. Every space she touches turns into magic. When I walk into these spaces now, they’re organized with intention. They free me of stress and make me feel so peaceful and happy.
I’m so excited to have her here on the blog today to share some amazing tips with us as we kick off the new year and focus on organizing and resetting.
Sinti, take it from here.
The Closet Reset Method: Starting the New Year Organized, Calm, and in Control
The start of a New Year often brings a desire for change – more clarity, less stress, and systems that actually support our daily lives. One of the most impactful places to begin is your closet. It’s a space you interact with every single day, yet it’s often overlooked or quickly becomes overwhelming.
As a professional organizer and founder of Organized Homes by Sinti, I’ve seen firsthand how transforming a closet can create a ripple effect throughout the entire home – and even into your mindset.
Why Start With the Closet?
Your closet sets the tone for your mornings. When it’s cluttered, overfilled, or disorganized, it can create unnecessary stress before the day even begins. A functional closet, on the other hand, saves time, reduces decision fatigue, and helps you feel more confident and in control.
Closets are also emotional spaces; they hold clothes from past seasons of life, “just in case” items, and pieces we no longer wear but feel guilty letting go of. That’s why organizing a closet isn’t just about storage – it’s about editing with intention.
This is where The Closet Reset Method comes in – a proven, professional approach to closet organization designed to create functional, easy – to – maintain systems that last.
Step 1: Reset the Space Completely

A true reset starts by removing everything from the closet. Yes – everything!
This step allows you to see exactly what you own and gives you a clean slate. It may feel overwhelming at first, but this temporary chaos is essential for creating long – lasting order.
Step 2: Edit Based on Your Current Life
Instead of asking, “Will I wear this again?” ask whether it fits your life right now. Let go of clothing tied to past seasons, routines or versions of yourself. Editing with intention creates both physical and mental space.
Step 3: Create Zones That Make Sense
Create clear zones such as everyday wear, athletic wear, work clothing, casual items and seasonal pieces. When everything has a purpose and a place, getting dressed and maintaining your closet becomes easier.

Step 4: Use Systems, Not Just Containers
Bins alone don’t create organization – systems do!
A functional closet relies on visibility, accessibility, and logical placement. If something is easy to put away, it’s more likely to stay organized.

Step 5: Maintain With Simple Habits
Sustainable organization comes from small habits like weekly resets and my favorite one – in, one – out rule.
Organization is not a one – time project, it’s an evolving system that grows with you!
One Method, Every Space
These five steps aren’t just for closets – they’re the foundation I use for every space in your home, from pantries and bathrooms to bedrooms and entryways. If you follow these same five steps, you can truly organize any space in your home.
Organization and cleaning also go hand in hand. A space that’s thoughtfully organized is easier to clean, maintain, and reset. When everything has a place, cleaning takes less time and feels less overwhelming.

What many people don’t realize is that organization isn’t just physical – it’s mental. Clutter creates mental noise, while clean, organized spaces support clarity, calm and better routines. When your home is both clean and organized, it becomes a place that works with you not against you.

Thankful for this post as I also just moved and closet space was downsized. Clothing purge is up first!
