I always laugh when people ask me, “How do you do it all?” because the truth is…I don’t have it all perfectly figured out. From the outside looking in, it can seem like everyone has this perfect balance, but the reality is life is constantly changing. Every season looks different and I’ve learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is grace.
I’m a mom to Enzo, who is 10, and my twins, who are almost 9. I’m a wife, a business owner, a provider, an educator, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. Some days everything flows beautifully, and other days it feels like I’m simply trying to keep all the balls in the air. Both are okay.
Over the years, I’ve realized balance isn’t about giving everything equal time. It’s about being fully present wherever you are.
When I’m with my patients, they have my full attention. When I’m in a leadership meeting with my team, I’m focused on growing our businesses and supporting the incredible women around me. And when I walk through my front door, my greatest role is being a wife and mom.
One of my favorite reminders is, “Be where your feet are.”
It’s so simple, but it’s something I come back to often. Instead of worrying about the next meeting while I’m watching my kids play sports or thinking about my to do list while I’m out to dinner with Sal, I try to be fully present in the moment that’s right in front of me. I am not perfect at it, but I’m very intentional about it.
I’ve also learned that you simply can’t do everything alone! As both RA and RFA have grown, creating systems and building an incredible team has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to continue growing while still protecting the things that matter most. Asking for help isn’t a weakness. It’s often what allows you to show up better in every area of your life.
I also say yes to the things that truly matter. Time with my family. Date nights with Sal. Watching my kids do what they love. Taking care of my health. Those things fill my cup and allow me to give my best to everyone else.
So what does a typical week actually look like?
Clinic Days
I currently see patients two days each week. On Tuesdays you’ll find me in our Chesterfield office, and on Thursdays I’m in Kirkwood.
On my Kirkwood clinic days, I love starting my morning with a workout alongside my trainer, Angela, in the RFA gym before I begin seeing patients. Taking care of my health has become such an important priority for me. When I feel my best physically and mentally, I know I’m able to show up better for my family, my patients, and my team.
A typical clinic day looks something like this:
• Wake up around 5:15 a.m.
• Workout with Angela
• Get the kids up, ready, and off to school
• Head to the office
• Begin seeing patients around 9:00 a.m.
• Spend the day educating patients and helping them feel confident in their skin
• Head home to family time, sports, dinner, and bedtime routines
• End the evening catching up with Sal, whether that’s dinner together, a round of golf when we can fit it in, or simply talking about our day.
Admin Days
When I’m not in practice, I’m working on the business.
My admin days are filled with meetings, planning, content creation, product development for RFA Skincare, leadership meetings, business strategy, and continuing education. I also spend time training providers through The RA Way and traveling for national trainings throughout the year.
These are the days that allow both of my businesses to continue growing.
I also try to use these days to fit in appointments, errands, and self care when I can. I’ve learned that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.
Weekends
Weekends are all about family!
Between sports, activities, and making memories together, we try to soak up as much quality time as possible. Some weekends we’re at the farmhouse, some are spent watching games, and others are simply slower days at home together.
Sal and I also make our marriage a priority. Whether we sneak away for dinner, play golf together, or simply spend uninterrupted time talking after the kids go to bed, we’ve learned how important it is to continue investing in our relationship. Before we were parents, it was just the two of us, and I never want to lose sight of that.
At the end of the day, I’ve realized there isn’t a secret formula to balance.
It’s growth, guilt, grace, and a whole lot of learning along the way.
Some days I’ll feel like I nailed it. Other days I’ll feel like I came up short. Instead of chasing perfection, I focus on doing the very best I can with the moment that’s right in front of me… And honestly, I think that’s everything.
XO,
Racquel
