I’m excited to welcome our Wellness Nurse Practitioner, Meg, back to the blog. I’m so honored to work with her and today she is walking you through exactly what to expect during your first wellness consultation at Racquel Aesthetics & Wellness. Take it away Meg!
Starting a journey into improving your overall health and wellness can be intimidating. Some people come in just wanting to understand their hormones. Some haven’t felt like themselves in a long time and need someone to hear them. Some want guidance on weight loss. Some know exactly what they want and have a very specific goal in mind. And some simply don’t know what they don’t know. Whatever situation you’re in, the Initial Wellness Consultation is where it all starts.
As a provider, this is honestly my favorite appointment. Maybe a friend told you about me, maybe you saw something on social media, maybe another staff member referred you, or maybe you just drove by and decided to stop in. Either way, I consider it an honor when someone chooses to come see me. I get to meet you and listen to your story — and every story is different, and every story matters to me. This is where the foundation of partnership and trust is built.
Let’s walk through exactly what you can expect.
Arrival
When you walk through the front doors of our Kirkwood location, you’re greeted with a smile by our front-of-house staff. The sitting area is open and spacious, with comfortable seating throughout. Help yourself to our beverage station — coffee, water, spritz, or an energy drink. We want you to feel comfortable and welcomed the moment you walk in.
Meeting Our Wellness Nurse
Shortly after you arrive, our wellness nurse Charlotte will greet you and take you back to one of our wellness rooms. There, she’ll get to know a bit more about you and what brought you to our program. She’ll make you feel at ease while drawing your blood for our Initial Panel and having you complete an InBody scan.
Our Initial Panel is a comprehensive look at your health, including white and red blood cell counts, kidney function, liver function, electrolyte balance, insulin resistance, inflammation markers, vitamin D, vitamin B12, ferritin, four thyroid markers, and a full sex hormone panel.
The InBody scan helps us monitor your body composition and weight management goals. It evaluates weight, muscle mass, body fat percentage, metabolic rate, visceral fat, and more. Preserving muscle mass is something myself and our other providers take very seriously — especially for patients using GLP-1 medications or other peptides that specifically affect body composition.

Once your scan is complete, Charlotte will walk you to one of our wellness treatment rooms, where you’ll meet with your wellness provider.
Your Consultation
The main goal of the initial consultation is for me to understand your specific goals and concerns, and how I can help. What made you decide to come see us? What made you decide to invest in your health and wellness? I want to hear your story — no detail is too small or too much.
My goal is simple: to make you feel comfortable, seen, and heard. We’ll go through your current medications and supplement regimen, review previous preventative screenings like mammograms, and talk through your family and personal medical history, along with anything else that feels relevant to your health. This conversation isn’t a checklist — I’m gathering information, but I’m just as open to hearing whatever stories or struggles have come up for you along the way.
Finally, we’ll talk through the specific symptoms you may be experiencing. This helps open up the conversation further and gives me real insight into how your hormones may be connected to how you’ve been feeling.
What Comes Next
About two weeks after your initial consultation, you’ll come back to see me for your Results & Treatment Plan appointment. By then, your labs will be back, and we’ll sit down together to walk through everything. This is where your story, your lab results, and my clinical experience as a provider all come together to shape a treatment plan that’s built specifically around you.
Nothing about your plan is generic or one-size-fits-all. It’s the result of listening to what you told me at your initial visit, understanding what’s actually happening inside your body through your bloodwork, and applying my experience to figure out what will genuinely move the needle for your specific goals.
This is just the beginning — the first step in a much longer journey. Real, lasting change in how you feel doesn’t happen overnight, and it isn’t meant to. It unfolds in the weeks and months ahead, built one appointment, one conversation, and one small adjustment at a time. My role isn’t to hand you a quick fix — it’s to walk alongside you, adjust the plan as your body responds, and stay in your corner for the long haul. Wellness isn’t a destination you arrive at once and check off. It’s a practice, a partnership, and a process — and I can’t wait to be part of yours.
If you’ve been thinking about taking the first step in your wellness journey, there’s no better time to start. We would love to meet you. Feel free to contact us with any questions at wellness@racquelaesthetics.com
