Let’s welcome our incredible Laser Specialist of over 23 years, Denise Wilson back to the blog! She has treated thousands of patients over the years and her patient’s results speak for themselves! Take it away!
Laser treatments are a big deal, and rightfully so. After months of research and countless other treatments that may not have delivered the promised results, clients who come in for a laser consultation are usually eager to get started right away.
However, at Racquel Aesthetics, laser treatments aren’t always my first choice.
I strive to offer a personalized care plan for each of my clients, addressing your skin concerns in the safest and most effective way possible. In some cases, that means laser treatments come in as a second step, not the first. Your skin deserves a solid foundation before moving on to anything else, and the best way to build that foundation is through proper skincare.
Skincare Is A Priority
You might be wondering why I’m telling you this, given that laser treatments are my main focus. A recent experience brought this into sharp focus, and I think it’s worth sharing.
A client came in for a laser consultation to treat melasma, interested in our MOXI laser. But after a close inspection of her skin and further consultation, I decided a lightening skincare routine was the better choice before introducing laser. I recommended 8 weeks of targeted skincare products to calm the pigment, support the skin barrier, and prepare the skin for the next step.
Most clients are excited to jump straight into a laser treatment. But with melasma, the slower approach is almost always the right one. Since I give 100% to my clients, I have to be thoughtful about how I treat it. If the skin isn’t properly prepped, treatments can be less effective or even increase the risk of rebound pigmentation.

Skincare and Laser Are Not Opposites
So does that mean skincare is always the better answer? Not quite.
Skincare isn’t necessarily better than laser treatments, but combined, the two can deliver truly impressive results. Think of skincare as the foundation before moving into more advanced treatments. The right products brighten pigmentation, protect the skin, improve tolerance, and create a healthier starting point. Once the skin is ready, a treatment like MOXI can then support pigmentation correction, anti-aging, and collagen stimulation.
And skincare doesn’t stop once treatment ends. It helps maintain results, protects your investment, and lowers the risk of conditions returning too soon. This is the most import step in maintaining your laser results!
A Slower Plan Is Sometimes The Better Plan
At Racquel Aesthetics, you are always the priority. My goal isn’t to rush you into a quick laser treatment and call it a day. It’s to recommend what’s genuinely in your best interest, so you leave feeling confident in your skin, inside and out.
Sometimes, the best results come from patience, consistency, and a plan that respects your skin, not a quick fix.
Call or text 314-200-2334 (Kirkwood) or 636-742-1122 (Chesterfield) to book a consultation, and I’ll create a personalized treatment plan that supports your skin now and protects your results long-term.

Denise
