At Racquel Aesthetics we like to make sure we are looking at the whole face with a global approach, for the most optimal youthful appearance. This method takes all of your facial features into account when making decisions on treatment plans or adjustments and allows your injector to maintain the integrity of the features that make you, YOU. The goal is to enhance symmetry and balance your facial features from top to bottom. The important thing to understand is that a great injector has the knowledge and experience to understand what you are wanting corrected and the correct way to treat that particular area. Truly, gone are the days of “plumping” up one portion of your face and not matching the rest of your face. As injectors at RA, we are dedicated to enhancing your natural beauty and treating the face as a whole. When we take this approach, it’s undetectable, while showing youthful restoration.
Let’s first start by thinking of your face in three parts: the upper third, middle third, and lower third. If we only correct one of those areas you are left unbalanced. Now the lower face may look great, but what about your upper or middle face? Shouldn’t those areas look great too? We should aim to treat your face holistically and correct any areas that need a little balancing. Harmonization over Volumization. Little sprinkles all over to create one beautiful face from every angle. This is where we separate “good” from “great” injectors.
I wanted to focus on the upper third of the face, specifically the temple region because it truly can be transformative and is such an important feature of full facial balancing and rejuvenation. It also comes at the perfect time. I recently just got back from San Diego for a “Train The Trainer” event for Allergan. I am a National Trainer for Allergan and every year they host an incredible event for the trainers. We trained in a couple hour cadaver lab, learning all the most advanced techniques from Sebastian Cotofana. Learning and training amongst top injectors and from the top anatomist in our industry was so awesome. Voluma filler was just FDA approved for the temples.
We often start with filler in the temples and work down to the preauricular space. That is something that we don’t realize can make a huge impact. We need to restore all the volume we can in the perimeter of the face. As we age, we really eat away at that fat and that results in laxity and changes in the facial contours you may be noticing. When we restore volume in the perimeter first it also lends to less filler or product needed in the midface and more natural results.
As we age, it is common to see hollowing in the temple region and one begins to have a “peanut” shape in their face. A sunken temple, although it’s not something you may have paid attention to, now that you are aware of this area you will be able to see the subtle, natural transformation when treated. Treatment in this area will round the temples back out and take them from concave to convex – which is VERY youthful. It also allows for refraction of light, while brightening the area and opening the eye region. This is such a subtle tweak that makes a big difference.
Especially, if the cheeks are restored, that hollow temple region can become more apparent. Once again that is why we want to take the global approach to the full face in restoration. The temple region is also the perfect place to use Sculptra. Sculptra is leading the aesthetic industry in collagen production. Sculptra is an injectable made of PLLA. Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) is a medicine targeting fibroblasts in your skin, stimulating collagen production. I use the analogy of fertilizer to describe sculptra. As it’s growing new collagen thus thickening and smoothing the outer layer of skin.

How To Get Started With Treatment
At Racquel Aesthetics both myself and my injectors are fully versed on full facial balancing and we would love to help you. The first step is to email my amazing patient coordinator Lea Voda. Lea will get you information and ask for photos. Once I review your photos, Lea will give you my full recommendations for full facial balancing as well as any other rejuvenation treatments like lasers or skincare that I think will benefit you. This does not mean you have to commit to everything on your first visit, but I like you to have a fundamental understanding of what can be done to help you achieve your goals. It is nice to have a reference list to work towards. I do this complimentary for patients who want to come see me in the office. My injectors and I take local patients and we also have patients fly in from all over the country to see us. If you do not plan to see my team or I for treatment, I cannot give you treatment recommendations because I am unsure of your injectors skill level or product selection. If you would like a facial assessment please email Lea at Lea@RacquelAesthetics.com
