Botox for Grinding, Clenching + Facial Slimming

My name is Brooke Coudret, and I am one of the nurse injectors at Racquel Aesthetics. I have been a registered nurse for 8 years, and my true passion is helping people achieve confidence through aesthetic medicine. I have been immersed in aesthetics for years and am currently studying injection techniques under our amazing owner, Racquel, to become the best nurse injector I can be. I am beyond honored to be at Racquel Aesthetics!

For as long as I can remember, I have been very passionate about skin care and aesthetics. I truly love helping people feel their very best! I strive to deliver beautiful, natural results by enhancing my patients’ natural beauty. I obtained my nursing degree from the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in 2014, and I am constantly seeking more knowledge and learning additional skills to always provide the very best treatments. I am a perfectionist and love providing custom and individualized treatment plans for each and every patient.

Botox Structure and Anatomy

WHAT IS YOUR MASSETER?

Your masseter is one of the most powerful muscles in the body. It is used for mastication (chewing) and is a strong, thick, and rectangular muscle. Its primary function is to elevate and protrude the jaw.

WHY WOULD YOU USE BOTOX TO THE MASSETER?

Botox in this area is used for several different reasons:

  • TMJ
  • Pain associated with jaw tension
  • Grinding of your teeth
  • Clenching of the jaw, which can result in bad headaches
  • Many patients also like to use it for cosmetic benefits. It can reshape, slim, and enhance your lower face. Tox to the masseter can create a slimming appearance to the jawline, especially in people with a more square face shape.

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX IN THE MASSETER LAST?

Longevity of toxin is usually around 4-6 months. You may need to come back sooner after your first session because the masseter is a VERY strong muscle!

HOW MANY UNITS DO YOU NEED ON AVERAGE TO RELAX THE MASSETER?

Average dose is anywhere between 20-40 units botox/50-100 units dysport, but it all depends on the strength of your muscles. Your nurse injector will be able to assess in the office!

If you’re clenching your jaws while reading this, you need your masseter injected by me or one of our amazing nurse injectectors at Racquel Aesthetics! My books will be open mid April, and I would be honored to have you in my chair!

XO

Brooke
