Hi everyone, Lucy Greene here! As Racquel’s lead esthetician, I am so happy to say that after only a few months open we are adding more treatments to our menu! It is really important to us to stay innovative with the best devices that are out there. When designing our facials at Racquel Aesthetics, our goal was to provide the most intentional treatments blended into one. With years of experience, I was bored with facials that only exfoliate the superficial layer. I wanted something more for our clients. With a range of ages in our treatment rooms, our facials target the client’s concern but treat deeper than surface imperfections.
As an esthetician, I have had my eye on the Celluma device for quite some time because it’s the most reputable light therapy company in the cosmetic industry. This treatment is great because literally everyone can benefit from it!
This treatment helps with
- wrinkles
- acne
- rosacea
- collagen stimulation
- hair rejuvenation
- inflammation
You will see this fancy LED panel in our Custom & Corrective Facials, Hydrafacials, Microneedling, & Scalp PRP. It’s even on our Add-On Menu so please ask at the desk if you are wanting this to be included in your service!
So what is Celluma Light Therapy?
It sounds crazy, but light therapy was originally researched and developed by NASA. This low-level light therapy is known as photobiostimulation which provides therapeutic benefits. Story has it that astronauts used these low level lights to grow plants and also heal cuts while in space before it was FDA cleared for cosmetics purposes.
Celluma creates energy for compromised cells to regenerate itself, which pairs really nicely with treatments that exfoliate or penetrate the skin. Celluma is FDA cleared for treating wrinkles and acne along with body pain and inflammation.
What are the colors for?
Blue, red and near-infrared are the most commonly used wavelengths in LED phototherapy. These specific wavelengths are well researched and scientifically proven to produce therapeutic benefits.
Blue penetrates through the epidermis and is known to kill P.acnes bacteria.
Red penetrates into the dermal layer and has been shown to enhance collagen and elastin production through photo-biostimulation of fibroblasts.
Near-infrared penetrates deepest and increases micro-circulation (tissue repair), decreases inflammation and attenuates pain.
Here’s our quick guide:
BLUE = ACNE This is the blue dominant program and is anti-bacterial. The blue causes the C.Acnes bacteria to destroy itself.
RED = WRINKLES This is the wrinkle/anti-aging program and may be used for every skin type. So, when in doubt we will use this program. It is the only program with almost equal emission of each of the 3 wavelengths. Use it for all skin related conditions. It is ideal for use following dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, and injections.
Who can use this and how often?
Pretty much everyone. There are very few contraindications for the use of Celluma Light Therapy. Contraindications include epilepsy, any seizure disorder, medication that causes photosensitivity, and cancerous tumors. Your esthetic provider will go over this with you during the time of your service. This treatment can be done multiple times a week, so anytime you are in our office is a good time to use light therapy.
Let’s Maximize Results.
I personally have all of my acne clients include LED into their clearing process whether it’s at home or in our office during their treatment time. It’s a remarkable therapy and helps to work on existing acne and scarring. During our facials, the goal is to have you sit under this for a designated amount of time, ideally after lots of exfoliation has been done. Along with facials, we include this in our scalp PRP service. Light therapy helps with microcirculation to bring healthy oxygenated blood to the hair follicles, amplifying the results of hair rejuvenation.
You are going to love it!
For our established facial clients, you will enjoy this device at your next appointment. If you haven’t been to us, we would love for you to try our Custom & Corrective facial, where light therapy will be featured. As for other aesthetic services such as injections & lasers, when you call to schedule, ask about our light therapy add on for an elevated experience.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions about celluma light therapy, aesthetic services, or a skincare plan to address your skin concerns.
Sincerely,
Lucy Greene, L.E.
