5 Staple Pieces for Spring Break and Summer 2020

I recently had a styling session with Megan Keller, a local STL stylist and it was amazing! We took a look to see what I had and she gave me tips on new ways to wear some pieces I had that I may have otherwise left hanging in the closet. Then we identified what staple pieces I was lacking. It’s amazing how many looks you can create with the same few articles! She helped me step outside of my comfort zone and pick a few new things I wouldn’t have on my own that I ended up loving once I put them on!

I invited Megan onto the blog today to share her wealth of knowledge and bring you tons of amazing pieces to fill out your springbreak or summer wardobe. We’re talking beach and resort attire, so fun!

Here’s Megan.

Spring is almost near which means spring break! If you have young kids they are likely taking a break right away and maybe you’re heading out on a beach vacation! Not sure what’s trending right now in the resort-wear department? Maybe you’re ready to start prepping your wardrobe for summer? I’m here to share some stylish go-tos for your spring break activities and 5 pieces you need for summer 2020!

1. The Clear Vinyl Wedge/Sandal

I LOVE a good wedge! When I saw the clear vinyl look immediately I was like ‘Yup, that’s cute’. This is an easy trend to jump on board with for me! These shoes are oh so versatile and will go with literally ANYTHING! I have linked some of my favorite styles below at all price points. Pair them with a sundress, romper, or tie short and your look is complete!

Steve Madden Maize Wedge
Nasty Gal In The Clear Block Mules
Tony Bianco Kiki Heel

2. The Straw/Wicker Bag

It’s ALL about straw/wicker bags this resort season and I’m loving ALL of the shapes and sizes! From the classic Miller neutral straw clutch, Woven Raffia Clutch, to the reasonably priced Round Box Crossbody Bag, they are ALL showstoppers and so beachy.

Tory Burch Miller Straw Clutch
Nordstrom Woven Raffia Clutch
DSW Round Box Crossbody Bag

3. A Flowing Cover-Up

A non-negotiable item for a day at the beach or by the pool. With the right bag, shoe/sandal, and swimsuit it can become a super glamorous look and you’ll be walking right off the beach and into lunch seamlessly! Right now we are seeing so many options to choose from whether you love the robe style or more of a jumpsuit vibe.

Beach Bunny Daisy Jumper
ASOS DESIGN Minimal Jumpsuit
L Space Kenna Jumper
Becca Crinkled Rayon Mock Wrap Pant
Acacia Oahu Duster
L Space Pacifica Shirt Dress
SHEIN Crochet Trim Asymmetrical Romper
TAVIK Tia Romper
Bikinishe Bohemian Flowy Lace Kimono

4. A Go-To SWIMSUIT AND A Staple CHOICE

This season we are seeing bright colors, color blocking, animal prints, ribbed fabric and belt embellishments! The selection below provides a ton of style and trend options! I’m particularly biased to the L Space Rebel Stripe which comes in 3 different color tones by the way. Also love the ROMWE Rib High Waisted, I think that’s the winner for me but sometimes thick straps are a deal breaker for tan lines in which case it’s always great to have a strapless top on hand to switch out.

Bikinishe Ribbed High Leg Belted Leopard One Piece

5. Face Flattering Sunglasses

The most important face accessory for those sunny beach days! Loving all the different shapes and shades this Spring. Some of my favorites below.

Quay Australia Round
Le Specs Armada
 Le Specs Escadrille
Gucci Round Square

I hope I was able to give you some ideas on what to pack for your upcoming Spring Break trip that will make you look and feel stylish and sexy!
