Hello 2025!
I’m feeling more excited than ever for another incredible year ahead of us and to set some bold, clear, and intentional goals. As you know, goal setting is a HUGE part of my life. It’s not just a task I do once a year—it’s an ongoing practice that fuels my motivation, helps me stay focused, and gives me that spark to keep pushing forward!
If you’re looking to set your own goals for the year, I highly recommend using the S.M.A.R.T. framework. I’m going to break down what S.M.A.R.T. goals actually are—because if you’re going to follow a framework, it’s important to understand why it works so well!
S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym that stands for:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time-bound
This structure helps you set clear, actionable, and realistic goals. It takes your dreams or ideas and turns them into actionable steps that you can measure and track over time.
Let’s dive into each component:
1. Specific: Be Clear About What You Want
A specific goal is one that is clear and focused. Instead of saying, “I want to get fit,” you would say, “I want to increase my strength and endurance through weight training and cardio.” The clearer you are about what you want, the easier it is to take the right steps toward achieving it.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Why is this goal important to me?
- How will I accomplish it?
2. Measurable: Track Your Progress
A goal is measurable when you can track how much progress you’ve made, or when you know when you’ve reached it. Instead of vague statements like, “I want to be healthier,” a measurable goal would be, “I want to drink 100 oz of water every day,” or “I want to lose 10 pounds.” A little trick I find helpful when setting goals is buying myself that helps me work towards that goal. Like a new fancy water bottle to help you reach that 100 oz of water goal. Here is my current favorite!
Questions to ask yourself:
- How will I measure my progress?
- How will I know when I’ve achieved this goal?
By having measurable criteria, you can consistently check in with yourself and adjust your approach if needed.
3. Achievable: Set Realistic Goals
While it’s important to challenge yourselves, your goals should also be realistic. Setting a goal that feels too out of reach can lead to frustration or discouragement. One goal Sal and I prioritize and will continue to focus on in 2025, is our weekly date nights. With busy work schedules, kids’ activities, and everything else life throws our way, it’s definitely challenging, but we’re committed to making it happen. We find it helpful to plan our date nights at the start of each week, so we can ensure our marriage stays at the top of our priorities. After all, without Sal and our relationship, nothing else truly works.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Is this goal realistic given my current situation?
- Do I have the resources and skills to achieve this goal?
- If not, what can I do to get there?
Achievability is all about finding that sweet spot—pushing yourself, but not overloading your plate.

Relevant: Align Your Goals With Your Life
Your goals should be relevant to your larger life plan. If your goal is not aligned with your values or current circumstances, it will be harder to stay motivated to achieve it. 2024 was a big year for RFA with our relaunch. 2025 is going to be another big year for RFA and Racquel Aesthetics. We are so excited for all the growth and new development we have in the works with Racquel Aesthetics, RA Wellness and RFA Skincare.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Does this goal matter to me?
- Is this goal aligned with my long-term objectives?
- How does this goal fit into my broader life vision?
Your goals should resonate with your values, passions, and your bigger picture. When your goals are relevant, they become easier to commit to and more fulfilling to achieve.
5. Time-bound: Set a Deadline
A time-bound goal is one that has a clear deadline. Without a time frame, it’s easy to put things off indefinitely. Deadlines help you stay focused and motivated. For example, saying “I want to get in shape” doesn’t have the same urgency as saying “I want to lose 10 pounds by June 2025.”
Questions to ask yourself:
- When do I want to achieve this goal?
- What’s the deadline for each stage of my goal?
- How will I stay on track to meet this deadline?
A time-bound goal gives you the accountability to make your dreams a reality within a specific time frame. Without a timeline, it’s easy for life to get in the way… and we all know life is good at getting in the way – but don’t let it this year!
My Favorite Tips For Goal Setting
- Write your goals down and keep them somewhere you will see them every day
- Journal about your goals regularly.
- Self assess and find a way to measure your progress
- Visualize yourself doing and achieving these goals
- Take actions and maintain self discipline
- Share your goals with others. Find yourself an accountability partner whether this be a spouse, family member or a friend
- BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Final Thoughts
2025 is going to be a year of transformation, growth, and focused action. With using the S.M.A.R.T framework I’m ready to tackle challenges, celebrate wins, and make this year my best yet in all aspects of life! I hope this inspires you to set your own goals and take actionable steps towards making them happen.
One last thing, your goals and dreams should be for you, and not about trying to mirror someone else’s highlight reel on social media. The beauty of life is that it’s meant to be lived authentically. Social media can sometimes be a breeding ground for comparison, but the most powerful thing you can do is define success on your own terms.
At the end of the day, the most fulfilling goals are the ones that resonate deeply with you—not with anyone else. Your path is unique. Your goals are yours alone. And you have everything you need to make your dreams come true!
Cheers to you, goals & 2025!
XO-
Racquel
